It was touch and go for a while. We invited people for 1 pm, fully expecting that they would get there by 2 pm. At 1:40 one boy was dropped off… and it began to pour outside… and it was 2 pm… and 2:30 pm… and almost 3 pm… and still nobody else came. Every time there was a sound, Jade would call out “Is somebody here?” Esteban or I had to reply, “No, honey. Not yet.” We were getting pretty nervous. What if nobody else showed up? The rain was strong. The traffic from Bogota was bad. And it was almost 3 pm. What if people decided not to come?
Just as we were about to give up, people started trickling in. One by one. The last guests showed up at 4:30 pm! And seemed a bit put off that there was no more vegetarian pizza left. (I am so sorry. They were three and a half hours late! I thought they weren’t coming and didn’t think to leave them veggie pizza. There was ham and cheese but they don’t eat ham.)
Anyway, all’s well that ends well. People showed up. Everybody had a great time. Jade had a great time. A few of the girls are sleeping over. We made plans over break with another girl. Mission accomplished.
