We Partied Like It Was 1999

Last night we partied like we were in our 20’s, except there was less drinking and more dancing. We were a group of ten out to celebrate my birthday, about six weeks after the fact. I haven’t had such a fun birthday in a decade (sorry to anybody reading this who I spent a birthday with in the last ten years).

The thing is that I love to get dressed up, go out with my husband and friends, eat good food, drink yummy drinks and dance. And last night included all of these! We went to El Techo, a swanky Mexican restaurant/nightclub in Bogota. As the night wore on, the lights became dimmer and dimmer and the music more enticing. The passion fruit margaritas were pretty amazing too!

Of all the places we have gone to so far in Bogota, El Techo has the best music to dance to in my humble opinion. This just means that it wasn’t all merengue and salsa, both of which I get sick of very quickly. It was what they call “crossover”, a little bit of everything – American, European, Brazilian, South American, and of course, a bit of salsa and merengue. We danced for hours! Until about 2 am to be exact.

Then home by 3 am and I woke up at noon today!!! This really hasn’t happened since Jade was born nine and a half years ago. Thank God for a nanny who is willing to sleep over. That’s all I can say. I am feeling the gratitude.
