At least once per week, Jade’s school bus arrives late. When I ask “Why?”, she tells me that the school bus was pulled over by the police.
“What do they want?” I ask.
“Oh, just to check the driver’s papers and to make sure that everybody is wearing their seat belts,” she replies nonchalantly.
I guess it’s a good thing that the police are making sure the kids are safe. Why do I find it slightly unnerving?
