Jade is off on her first overnight school trip! She is so excited and we are too… mostly… OK, we are a little nervous. She is going camping in Boyaca (a region in Colombia that is several hours from Bogota) and we won’t be able to talk with her until she gets back.
If we were in the US, she would have gone on a school field trip to a farm for an entire week this year, so why is this such a big deal? I don’t know but it just feels different in Colombia. I suppose it’s because I still feel like a foreigner and I am still often surprised by the way things work (or don’t work) here. Somehow it’s scarier to send my children off into the world in a foreign place.
