What a long yet satisfying travel day! After sending Marta off to the airport, we went back to the Valle de Cocora in the morning so the girls could see some of the scenery we saw yesterday during our hike but on horseback. We then met up with some friends from Chia who were vacationing nearby. Their daughter is best friends with Jade, our oldest and Jade was thrilled to see her friend.
We then met up with our close friends who were coming from the Bogota area and drove with them for four hours to Cali, where we will be spending Christmas Eve at our friend’s mother’s house. We will then be traveling on with them (our friends and their twin 12-year old daughters who are good friends with our oldest and very sweet with our younger girls) so it will be an adventure.
We got to Cali and to our friend’s mother’s house by 6 pm, all of us exhausted but pulling it together for the kids. We managed to eat a delicious dinner which her mother was kind enough to prepare for all of us, open the gifts and fall into bed by 11 pm. It is customary in Colombia to open gifts at midnight on Dec 24th but we could not manage to stay awake. Merry Christmas!
