Say No to Illegal Animal Trafficking

This past weekend we were invited to a birthday party at nature reserve in Cota, a small town about an hour outside of Bogota. Although the scenery was really beautiful, the really neat thing about this reserve is that it is also a rehabilitation center for rescued animals which were victims of illegal trafficking. The center has created varied habitats so that the animals can live in their native surroundings. Center staff lead tours and educate the public about the horrors of animal trafficking.

We spent a great day learning about the animals, hiking trails, planting trees, and, of course, celebrating Siena’s friend’s birthday. I highly recommend a visit to the Reserva Natural de Cota.
