We had an amazing long weekend in Tobia, a small town famous for “extreme sports” (rafting, canyoning, rapelling, horseback riding, canopying) about an hour and a half drive from our house in Chia (and 2 hours from Bogota). The weather was perfect and the scenery was lush and green. We swam, went horseback riding and white water rafting. It was truly relaxing and fun and we could not believe that we have never been here! What have we been doing for nearly 3 and a half years?
As an aside, Saige, our 4-year old, is a fish or rather a “Tortuga Nadadora” (swimming turtle), as she likes to call herself. She dives, swims 6 pool laps in a row (and this was a big pool!), and does quadruple somersaults under water. It is really amazing because she just started swimming a few weeks ago!
On the practical side, we stayed at La Gaitana Hotel Campestre. The pros: beautiful setting right on the river, beautiful and clean pool, activities organized by hotel so very little hassle, some food variety. The cons: basically the rooms. They are fairly run down and noisy. Not great value for the money but seemed to be the best option in Tobia.
