2,000 Year Old Kauri Tree

December 22, 2016

Road tripped today from the northernmost point of New Zealand back to Auckland. 6 hours of driving on mountainous one lane roads plus lots of stops. Everyone is exhausted but had an awesome day! We had amazing fish and chips looking at gorgeous scenery, walked in the rainforest to see a 2,000 year old Kauri tree, drove down such remote country roads that we somehow got into “if we get a flat tire here and can’t get any help, who will we eat first?” kind of conversations, and ended our day with a delicious Japanese dinner back in Auckland – the freshest sushi and sashimi ever! Also realized I need to learn how to change a tire if I am going to be taking my girls down remote country roads where there is no cell phone coverage or people in sight. It has been an amazing all girls trip for the past 6 days! And I am pretty ready to pick up my jet lagged hubby from the airport tomorrow morning.
